What Makes a Great Website?

  1. Relevant Photo above the fold

  2. Compelling Tagline above the fold

  3. Call to Action above the fold

  4. Products & Services Offered just below the fold

  5. Demonstrate Credibility & Referrals

In social media marketing, you cannot underestimate the importance of a great website. A potential client will seek out your business in 3-4 places: Facebook, Google, Instagram and sometimes a mapping app search. In most cases, if they search for you in any of these places, they’re looking for a link to your website in order to get the information they need.

What sets your website apart from the rest to change someone interested in your business into a paying customer? It answers as many questions as possible for the customer without them having to look very hard. In many ways, consumers are slightly lazy OR they are very busy. It’s actually probably a bit of both. Consumers want information quickly and easily without having to make a phone call or venture out of their comfort zone. They want answers before making a decision, and the website with the most answers generally wins.

What makes a great website?

There are 5-7 key components of a great website depending on the type of business you offer. Today we will look at the top 5 components your website should offer in order to provide customers with all the answers to their questions.

  1. Relevant Photo above the fold

    • Above the fold means what your website looks like before any scrolling is necessary.

    • People love to connect and seeing a friendly or welcoming face provides them with the feeling of connection.

  2. Compelling Tagline above the fold

    • What do you do?

    • What problem do you solve?

    • What makes you unique?

    • Why are you the best at what you offer?

    • Think of it this way: You’re about to share the best, most amazing product or service you have ever personally used in your life with your very best friend. How would you succinctly describe that product or service? What catchy, specific statement would you make?

  3. Call to Action above the fold

    • What does your business offer that’s available today? The call to action offers them something in exchange for their information. It takes up to 8 exposures to your business before a potential customer becomes a paying customer. How quickly can you provide a benefit to them so they see the value in working with you?

    • Your business already meets a need they have. Demonstrate that with the call to action.

    • What value added service can you offer to customers in exchange for contact information so that they will return to your website again, soon.

  4. Products & Services Offered just below the fold

    • Just below the fold means they have started to scroll.

    • List in bullets or with graphics the specific products or services you offer with clickable links for greater detail.

    • This information will also be available on the menu located in the upper right corner of your website (generally), but finding it on the home page is beneficial to customers on the go.

    • Make it easy for customers to see what you offer.

  5. Demonstrate Credibility & Referrals

    • Happy customers are your best advertisement. Use their positive reviews to demonstrate your credibility.

    • Utilize 3-5 of your best reviews or awards that show you’re the best one for your skillset.

    • Set yourself apart from the competition.
