What Should I Post?

Social Media Content Ideas to Use Now

It’s easy to hit the ground running in 2022 when you have a plan for quality social media content.

At Flywheel we believe strongly in using content calendars. You can find instructions on it here.

Let’s look at four types of content you’re probably already doing that you can use now.

  • Tutorial

  • Behind the Scenes

  • Solutions

  • Current Projects

In working on your small business social media marketing, we encourage you to work smarter, not harder. Leverage projects and tasks you’re already doing to showcase on social media. If you plan strategically, you can stretch one project into multiple posts or uses.

Tutorials Tutorials are a great way to teach someone else something fun or informative. Let’s say you’re working on a project that could be useful or helpful to other people. Take pictures or video and document the step-by-step process. Explain along the way why you do things so that you provide added value to the viewer. It’s easy to think that your project has already been done so why bother. Stop right there. The way you do it may be exactly what someone needs to see. Make the video. Write the post. Do the thing. Don’t limit yourself or your creativity.

Behind the Scenes Behind the Scenes snapshots help the reader engage with you in a friendly way. Showing them the mess behind the project, or the before and then after, allows them to see the content creator as a real person and not just a business. Consumers want to feel a personal connection to the business or brand they’re following. This behind the scenes effort gives them that sneak peak.

Solution Have you solved a nagging problem? Provide a solution to your readers. Show them how you’ve taken a difficult or tricky situation and found an easy solution or a way of doing something that makes more sense. When you give your audience that “why didn’t I think of that?” moment, you present yourself as a helper and more relatable. I will even throw in a solution right here. Pool noodles over exposed outdoor piping make great insulators. Slice the pool noodle right down the middle wrap it around your pipe. Chances are you have a raggedy pool noodle somewhere ready for this solution. And I even included a handy tutorial video link above. (You’re welcome.)

2022 Project List Are you a budding DIYer? Maybe you’ve been working DIY for years, but now you’re trying to build your brand and community. With the start of the new year, show your followers the projects on your list for 2022. Let’s say you’re completing one room makeover each month for the year. Start off by showing them each room as it is right now. You can build a handful of posts just around what you’re planning and then have at least 12 additional posts already planned for completion of each room.

At Flywheel, we are content creators. We are creative thinkers. We get excited just brainstorming new ideas about what content looks like for our clients and ourselves.
