15 Prompts for Social Media Marketing

Writer’s block, brain fog, mental block, creative block…..call it what you want, it’s a real thing!!!

What can you do when the idea doesn’t flow as easily and it’s the Monday-est Monday you have ever had in business?

If you’re new to the world of social media marketing, knowing what to post and when can be tricky or overwhelming. Some days an idea comes easily when you’re working on a specific project and you know it makes a great post. Those are good days.

We have 15 ideas to share to get you started. Use them all. Use them well. Most importantly, just get to posting.

1. Introduce yourself and your business. Give your followers 5 fun facts to know about you.

2. Introduce your team or staff. This can be one big post depending on staff size or use this over a day or two. Include fun facts about the people you work with as well.

3. Celebrate an accomplishment. 100 posts? Yay! 100 followers? Yay! A new client? Yay! Find something and celebrate it.

4. Post about your favorite stop for coffee or a treat. Connect with that business and tag them. This gives your followers and future clients a peak into your life.

5. Do you love animals? Post a picture of your best furry friend. Take it one step further and ask your followers to post their furry friends also and tag you back.

6. Tell customers the favorite part of your job that you love. Explain what it is and why you love it. This gives them a look into your business operation and you as a human.

7. Screenshot something from your website that you feel is important

for customers to know and understand. Spend a few sentences explaining it.

8. Answer FAQs. If you have a list of questions that frequently come up, take a day to address those. You can do it all in one day or string it out over a couple of posts. This makes a permanent post you can refer to and reuse when needed.

9. Promote your email list and explain why emails are beneficial to

clients. Add a box where people can quickly and easily sign up for your email list.

10. Post about an event you recently attended. What was it? Why did you participate? What did you learn? What did you love? Networking is a valuable tool and small business owners need to use it. Tag the location or event in your post.

11. Share a quote or verse that motivates you.

12. Holiday! Almost every month contains a holiday. Check a holiday calendar and post something related. There are plenty of fun and silly days to celebrate that aren’t on an official holiday calendar. Find one and make it fun!

13. Answer a common misconception about your business or field of work. Why is it a misconception and what’s the truth?

14. Post how you use your product or how you benefit from the

services of your business. This helps people see your business has real people behind it and get to know you better.

15. How can people get in touch with you? Provide current contact information so that a potential client can always find you easily.

Bonus: repurpose or re-share a previous post that performed well. Some people need to be reminded and many people will be new. This is especially true of an introductory type of post. Anytime you have an influx of new followers, you can re-share your introduction post so new people get to know you.
